Is this instead of a videographer?
No. A videographer covers the day from the front of the room — tight ceremony shots, the first dance from the back, drone over the venue. We cover everything around that: the wobbly toast from your cousin's hand, the dressing-room banter, the late-night dance floor. Many couples book both. About a third book us instead.
What cameras do you send?
Vintage camcorders from the 2005–2012 era. They shoot in a warm, slightly grainy style that no modern camera can replicate. That's the point. The well-known US camcorder rental services tend to use modern 4K cameras made to look vintage in post — we don't. The grain you see is the actual grain.
Is this only for weddings?
No. The kit works for anything weekend-long where you'd want a home-video record: bachelor or bachelorette parties, milestone birthdays (30th, 40th, 50th), engagement weekends, anniversaries, family reunions, big trips. Pick the dates that suit, send us a note, we'll ship the kit.
What if my friends are terrible at filming?
That's the point. The shaky, low-angle shots are what makes the edit work. We watch every minute of footage and cut the best moments into a three-minute film.
How hard is it for guests to use?
One button to record, one button to stop. Each camera has quick-start stickers on it. If a guest can use a smartphone, they can use the camera. Most people figure it out in under a minute.
How much footage can each camera hold?
Each camera comes with a formatted SD card that holds around 8 hours of footage. You won't fill it in a weekend. We also include fully charged spare batteries so the cameras last the whole event.
How does shipping work?
We ship the kit to you about a week before your event. Round-trip shipping is included in the price. After your event, our courier collects the kit from your door. No drop-offs, no post office runs, no guesswork. Not home for the slot? We reschedule once at no cost.
What countries do you ship to?
We ship via DHL Express to the UK, Europe (France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Netherlands), Australia, and the USA, plus a handful of other countries on request. If yours isn't listed, send us an enquiry and we'll check what's possible.
What does the deposit cover?
Two deposits. The R500 booking deposit holds your date — refundable if you cancel 30+ days out. Closer to your event we take a R5,000 camera security deposit (refundable in full once the kit comes back to us in one piece, normally within 7 days of return). The full balance is due 14 days before we ship. Full terms on the /terms page.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The price you see includes round-trip shipping and basic insurance. For international orders, customs duties may apply in some territories — we'll confirm before shipping so there are no surprises.
What does the final film look like?
A three-minute highlight reel, colour-graded warm and a little grainy — the way footage from a 2005 camcorder naturally looks. We don't over-edit. Real audio, real moments, minimal titles. It looks like a home video of your weekend.
How long does editing take?
Core delivers in approximately 4 weeks after we receive the returned kit. Base delivers in 2 weeks. Express edit (R5,000 add-on) brings either down to one week. All delivered as a private link — no expiry, yours to download and share.
What if the footage is bad?
Shaky, overexposed, slightly out of focus — that's the look. We work with whatever we get. In the rare case a camera malfunctioned or nothing was captured, we'll sort it out with you. It hasn't happened yet.
Is quality guaranteed?
We edit the best footage we receive. Better input gives a better film — the more your guests film, and the more variety of shots, the stronger the final cut. We can't guarantee a specific look from limited or poorly shot footage, but we've never had a couple disappointed. We work with what we get.
What if a camera gets lost or broken?
Each kit is insured for accidental damage. You're not liable for normal use. If a camera is lost or deliberately damaged, we'll discuss it with you. We trust our couples and their guests.
Can I get a longer version of the film?
Both tiers deliver a three-minute film. Base also includes a one-minute vertical Instagram cut and a 15-second teaser. If you want a 12-minute extended cut — full ceremony, longer speeches, every dance-floor moment — that's the Extended cut add-on (R2,900). Raw footage is a standalone add-on (R3,500) available on both Core and Base.
How does your pricing compare to other camcorder services?
Our pricing sits between the videographer route (typically R20K and up in SA) and DIY phone clips (free). At R16,500 entry you get the kit, the edit, and round-trip shipping. The premium US camcorder rental brands are around $700–$1,000 (≈ R13K–R18K) but they don't include the edit and don't ship internationally — the numbers work out roughly equal, except ours includes the edit.
